Itara Community School
The school will seek to enable children to become joy-filled active learners, intellectually curious individuals, and proactive and ethical citizens. To accomplish these ends, the school shall focus on the primacy of exploration and discovery, the advancement of the mastery of skills through technology, and the ability to shape meaning from knowledge and innovation.
In five years, the Itara Community School will produce 3000 graduates. The facility also will serve more than 10,000 people in the village of Mayange, with access to a library, agricultural training facilities, internet, and more. The school will also share its digitized resources with students across the country, making quality education available to children and adults not in the vicinity of the school.
This school will serve as a model that can be easily replicated across the country and even across the African continent. Rwanda is one of the blossoming economies in Africa and well positioned to become an education hub for the continent.
