Bicycle Learning Center

One great way to empower women and girls is a bicycle, according to World Economic Forum. In impoverished areas where distance is a challenge, the bicycle is an obvious choice of reliable transportation and a natural tool to improve the lives of many. In fact, unlike in other parts of Rwanda, women in the Bugesera District—where Mayange is located—often do use bicycles.

In keeping with this distinct specialty of Mayange village and Bugesera District, the campus will include a Bicycle Learning Center. The center integrates with the educational program, as part of which students learn to make and take care of their own bicycle: a lesson in responsibility and skill mastery. Moreover, the students and villagers will be able to generate income through bicycle repair skills, thereby empowering the community.

Agricultural Program

The program will create model courses to teach the local farmers and students about opportunities in farming and encourage the youth to pursue viable careers in agriculture. Through the center resources, students and local farmers will be equipped with skills, knowledge and hands on experience in modern farming techniques to boost agricultural productivity.
