Community Resources

In addition to classroom spaces, multi-purpose facilities and community spaces will support the ambition to serve the Mayange community, facilitating after-school learning, community gatherings, workshops, and skills training—some of which will be led by the students. Some of the spaces aimed at serving the school and the community simultaneously are outlined below.

Library

The library is a core element of the Itara Community School campus. More than just a repository for books, this library is meant to function as a place of knowledge exchange and learning not only for the school childen but also for the wider village community. The library collection will combine digital and print collections and is designed to adress the school and community needs.

Mental Health Facilities

Another core component of the Itara Community School campus are mental health facilities available both to the students and to the surrounding community. These facilities are not limited to indoor counseling office spaces but are envisioned to incorporate the landscape in the form of gardens that can be used for individual and group sessions.

Education Broadcasting Center

The COVID pandemic has ushered in a new era of online and digital learning. While there is no substitute for in-person interaction and learning, there exists an opportunity to innovate in the broadcasting of education. Education Broadcasting Center will help spread the knowledge and know-how of Itara Community School far beyond its borders, making education available to children and adults not in vicinity of the campus. The programming can be developed and delivered with and/or by the students, giving them another opportunity to develop skills and give back to community.
